Remote Backup - Installation

Back ups with fastmetrics™ are completed over the internet or network connections to our secure backup server, safely offsite.
  • Back ups occur nightly while computers are not being used.
  • Your business can be back up and running with new computers and your latest data no matter what catastrophe occurs.
Install
Remote Backup

To begin using fastmetrics™ Remote Backup service first click in the button above to download the installer.

This will download a file named fm-remotebkup-v11.exe.

Some browsers will allow you the option to Run the file you are downloading without having to find that file and run it. If you select this option, you won't need to find the file and double-click in it..

Once the file has downloaded, double-click in that file to run the installer.

If a dialog appears warning that the publisher could not be verified - this is normal. Just click in the Run button.

Note that it can take 20 or 30 seconds for the installer to begin the process. Just be patient.

If a dialog appears asking if you trust this software - this is normal. Just click in the Allow button.
Remote Backup Installer
Once the installer begins the installer window will open, as shown in the graphic displayed above.

There are no settings to choose, just wait for the installer to finish. You may see some windows open for a few seconds while the installer copies some files. This is normal.

When the installation is completed, a dialog will appear asking if you want to restart your computer.

You can elect to restart immediately, or at a later time. However, you will not be able to access the remote backup software until you restart your system.

Remote Backup

Once you have restarted your computer, you'll find a Remote Backup folder in the programs section of the Startup Menu. That folder contains both the Remote Backup software, as well as a help system named Documentation.

To get up and running immediately with Remote Desktop, see our Getting Started article.

For detailed instructions on how to use the more advanced options of Remote Desktop, please refer to the Documentation provided with the Remote Backup software.
