The most important detail in using Remote Backup is to perform the initial complete backup. After that, nightly backups will only need to record the changes from the previous day. The time required for this initial backup depends on the size of the data that you wish to protect, and your bandwidth speed.

To use fastmetrics™ Remote Backup service, first you must install the Remote Backup program on your computer. Click here to see the article on installing Remote Backup. Once you have installed Remote Backup, you'll find complete documentation on how to set up Remote Backup. Look in the Programs area in the startup menu for the folder named Remote Backup. ![]() Within that folder is both the Remote Desktop program and the Documentation. That documentation provides a detailed help system explaining all the features and how to use them.
But you may not even need that documentation. This article may be more than enough to get you going. Scheduling your backups First select Schedule from the main menu to display this dialog. Backup Type We recommend choosing either Incremental or BitBackup. This will increase speed and conserve disk space. Backup Schedule Select from Daily through Monthly to determine how often backup are run. Note - if you choose On Demand then you must run your backups manually. Start Time Select what time of day you want your backups to be run. Then click the Apply button to save your preferences. ![]()
Selecting files to be included in the backup Just place a green check beside each folder that you want to include - and a red beside each item you want to exclude. To mark an item, right-click in that item and select either the green checkmark or the red X. That's it! Just close the window and your backups are all set to run. ![]() Performing a restore Restoring your files is just as easy as setting up your backups. Select Restore from the main menu. Then place a check beside each item in the right pane that you want to restore. Click in the Start Restore button. Progress information during the restore process will be displayed at the bottom of the restore window. ![]() |
