| Remote Backup - Initial Backup |
|
Your initial backup is the most time consuming process. The time this requires varies depending on the amount of data you wish to protect along with the level of your internet bandwidth.
Once your initial backup is established, overnight backups need only preserve the daily changes to your data - this is typically a very small amount in comparison to a full backup and can be performed over the internet - no matter what bandwidth speed you have.
For fiber customers, in most cases you can perform your initial backup directly to our remote servers. For customers using aDSL and T1/T2/T3 connections - fastmetrics™ offers a service where you can backup to an extenal drive and messenger that drive to our offices. We will upload your data to our backup servers over our top-end fiber internet connection.
Using our top-end fiber internet service at 250Mbps, you can backup around 120 GB of data overnight. With our second tier service at 100Mbps, you can backup around 50 GB overnight. At 10Mbps an overnight backup can backup around 5 GB overnight. ![]() |
